The abbey church in Saint Sever

The abbey church of Saint-Sever, with its unique heart and seven staggered chapels, is a major building of the medieval period in the region. Its architecture marks the beginning of Romanesque art and the growing importance of pilgrimages.

While the abbey church has undergone destruction, renovation and major works, the intervention of SOCRA's teams was necessary to restore the shine to the marble stucco columns and bases. Two columns on the south side were removed and restored in stucco marble as well as the base.

Vendée

Luçon Cathedral

The south transept of Luçon cathedral has a harmonious ensemble consisting of an altarpiece facing a confessional surmounted by a funerary monument. The wall connecting these structures is adorned with a panel of staff panels.

Prior to the work, an investigation and test campaign was carried out in order to reveal the original polychromy of the decorations by stratigraphy.

The restoration work involved pre-consolidation, fine cleaning using methods adapted to the different types of support (stone, staff, marble, painted faux-marble, etc.), as well as the creation of identical decorations and the installation of some of the staff decorations.

Le Français cinema

The cinema Le Français is located in a building built in the 19th century. Originally, the building housed a theatre. The entire set was made of staff and then positioned in situ by polochonnage with filasse and plaster.

SOCRA's intervention consisted of removing the decoration, then restoring all of the elements by cleaning, consolidating, and reattaching the fixing system, followed by re-installation in situ of the restored elements according to the same principle of installation as the original.
